winter 2010 -The goats have enjoyed the bounty of squash all winter. Don has been chopping the extras with a machete each morning to fill up their trough. I think we may have a rebellion when it is all gone- or at least a lot of complaining.
This has been the longest wet period since we have lived here and we are hoping for a bit of drying time before spring planting. Nothing much going on with the fall plantings because of the super saturated soils. We need a break from these repeated drenchings before time to plant for 2010.

Don planted an experimental squash garden this year to try types we have never grown. The results are coming in and they are beautiful but we won't know if they are tasty or not till they cure for some time.

June-Well the veggies are pumping out the chow and the blueberries have settled in and producing well for 3 year old plants. Drying out now so back to watering already. Squash bugs making me cuss as usual but still plenty to eat and share with the goats too.
April and May- SOOOOOOO much rain! Looks like a jungle around here but the daylilies are weathering all the wet fairly well. Some of Don's seedlings are blooming for the first time!
The intensity of this color took us by surprise~ darkest seedling yet.
The Japanese Iris have been very showy this year too.
We really like this rose colored beauty with it's darker eye ring and light ribs.

Iris season was wonderful. There is nothing quite like the fragrance and exotic form.
This is called Quiet Riot and was beautiful inbetween gully washers.
